In the basement, Matthews has a newly-renovated common room featuring a plasma TV and DVD/VCR combo. The basement also has a study room with white board, a full kitchen, music practice rooms and a trash room.

Matthews’ basement has the offices of FOP, FUP, and has music practice rooms. Past residents include Matt Damon, Robert Rubin, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, William Randolph Hearst, Mark Penn, and John Dos Passos.
